Hiking
There are plenty of nature trails and hiking routes in Iitti and its environs suitable for hikers of all abilities. Along the routes, there are sites for campfire, shelters for cooking and possibilities for staying the night in shelters or cottages. Locations of shelters and further instructions can be found under Canoeing.

The routes for cycling, canoeing, hiking and skiing are presented in the map of Kymenlaakso, South Karelia and Päijänne Tavastia. The common symbol for the routes is an otter with a backpack.


Hiking and Skiing Routes in Iitti

E6 - 10
The route starts in Lahti and takes you to Nastola and Kausala and further from Kausala (Ravilinna sports centre) and ski hut to the ski hut of Anhava. From Anhava there is a connection to Kuusankoski and Valkeala. A 25 km stretch of this route runs through the Municipality of Iitti. The route Nastola - Mankalanharju - Jokua - Kausala - Anhava can be divided into three sections:

Aurinkotaival
This route begins at the Farmers' Market, leads you to the nearby fields and moors of Kauramaa and further to the fields of Jokue. Distance altogether 6 - 8 km. The route is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Retkeilijän taival
This skiing track follows first the Aurinkotaival route and then continues from Jokue over Mankalanharju to the Lapp hut of Selkola and further to Nastola and Lahti. Distance altogether 30 - 40 km. The track is for the traditional style only. You can travel on foot from Nastola to Mankalanharju.

Hikitaival
Kausala - Anhava - Kuusankoski, ca. 40 km. Suitable for traditional as well as for freestyle skiing. The route can be used both in summer and in wintertime. There is a shelter and a ski hut along the way.

Juustopolku Vuolenkoski - Heinola, ca. 18 km
Juustopolku is an ancient path from Vuolenkoski to Heinola, which led people to the market. The tradition is kept alive through yearly hiking events.

Vuolenkoski - Vierumäki
This route takes you from Vuolenkoski sports field to Kunnaslampi and connects the route to those of the Finnish Sport Institute. The distance one way is ca. 12 km.

Karrala Route
The starting and finishing point of this route is the Karrala Local Heritage Museum in the village of Koliseva. Distance ca. 3 km.

Horse Trekking
There are horse trekking routes in Säyhtee and Hiisiö as well as in the villages of Lapinkulma and Kymentaka. Further information on stables under Riding.

Running Tracks
There is a 6 km long illuminated running track in Kausala, the starting point is at the sports field. It serves as a skiing track in winter. There are also 1,5 km tracks in Lyöttilä and Perheniemi.
