Tourism![]() Lake Sceneries and Adventures The Municipality of Iitti lies in the northwestern corner of the Province of Southern Finland, in the verdant Kymenlaakso Region, which is known for its lakes and the River Kymijoki. Magnificent lake sceneries, forests and hills dominate northern Iitti, whereas the southern Iitti is more plain, an area of open fields and rivers. In between, close to the highway 12 and Helsinki - St. Petersburg railway, lies the administrative centre; Kausala. The Iitti summer is full of interesting things to see and do. Iitti Music Festival, summer theatre, Colour Festival and Colour Days, fishing and recreation in the nature, and many sporting events, are already trademarks of Iitti. Kausala has a long tradition of trotting races, which still take place in the Ravilinna Sports Centre each year at Whitsun time. There are also stables that provide riding lessons and riding camps for locals as well as for visitors. The old tradition of markets continues at the Kausala Market Square on first Tuesday of every month as well as on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings enlivened by musical programme. Skiing, ice fishing, sleigh rides, Christmas markets and sporting events are the joys of winter. Come and visit us, spend a nice holiday in Iitti and enjoy life!
